2021 C & BL Summary of Officers - Committees - Organizations

In accordance with the 2021 Edition of the Bylaws, the leadership of Mililani Fil-Am Baptist Church is structured into specific offices, administrative bodies, and committees designed to govern the church’s worship, service, and business operations.

1. Church Officers and Staff
All elected officers and staff must be members in good standing.
  • Pastor: Serves as the spiritual and administrative leader, responsible for preaching, teaching, and leading church organizations. He is an ex-officio advisory member of all standing committees except the Pastor's Selection Committee.
  • Deacons: The church maintains five deacons for the first 100 members, adding one for every 50 additional members. They serve as a committee of counsel for the Pastor, implement the Deacon Family Ministry, and act as the Church Membership Committee.
  • Moderator: An elected man (lay leader or Pastor) who presides over all regular and called business meetings.
  • Church Clerk: Responsible for recording business meeting transactions, maintaining the member register, and issuing letters of dismissal or transfer.
  • Trustees: At least three members elected to hold church property in trust and sign legal documents as authorized by a church vote.
  • Treasurer: The custodian of all church monies, responsible for disbursements via check (requiring at least two signatures) and providing monthly/annual financial reports.
  • Financial Secretary: Oversees the receiving, counting, and depositing of offerings while maintaining confidential individual giving records.
  • Church Staff: Employed as needed based on recommendations from the Church Council or a special committee.
2. The Church Council
The Church Council serves as the primary administrative body of the church. It is chaired by the Pastor and composed of:
  • All elected ministerial staff.
  • Chairperson of the Deacons.
  • Directors of all program organizations.
  • Chairpersons of all church committees. The Council meets at least every other month to coordinate church work and schedule activities.
3. Standing Committees
Standing committees generally consist of at least three members serving three-year staggered terms.
  • Nominating Committee: Reviews member aptitudes to provide a reservoir of nominees for church offices and committees.
  • Stewardship Committee: Ensures adherence to the budget, recommends financial policies, and performs the annual audit of the treasurer’s books.
  • Property Committee: Administers church grounds, buildings, and equipment, including making arrangements for repairs and improvements.
  • Ordinance and Ushering Committee: Manages the greeting and seating of the congregation and prepares the elements for Baptism and the Lord's Supper.
  • Social Committee: Oversees the Kitchen, Decorations, and Social/Recreation ministries.
  • Nursery Committee: Operates under the WMU Committee to schedule and supervise nursery ministry for babies during worship.
4. Program Organizations
These organizations are under church control, and their leaders are elected by the body.
  • Sunday School: Conducts the study of the Bible for all ages.
  • Church Training: Focuses on teaching Christian doctrine, ethics, and church polity.
  • Missionary Education (WMU/Brotherhood): Teaches missions and leads the church in mission projects.
  • Music Ministry: Plans choirs and special musical programs for worship services.
  • Youth Ministry: Coordinates activities for youth; a representative from the Youth Fellowship serves on the Church Council.
